How to Unlink WhatsApp from Facebook After a Password Change or 2FA Setup
How to review and unlink WhatsApp from Facebook after changing your password or enabling two-factor authentication.

After changing your password or enabling 2FA, review the accounts and apps connected to Facebook. Menu names can differ between the web and app, so look under Settings and privacy, Accounts Center, or Apps and websites.
Before unlinking
- Make sure you can still access both Facebook and WhatsApp.
- Note any sign-in or recovery method you may need, and never share verification codes.
- If your goal is to secure Facebook, finish changing the password and enable 2FA first; use the 2FA tool when you need to check a TOTP code.
Review and unlink the connection
- Open Facebook directly, go to Settings & privacy, then open Settings.
- Open Accounts Center to review connected accounts. If WhatsApp appears, open it and choose the available unlink or disconnect option.
- Also check Apps and websites and remove access for WhatsApp or related third-party apps.
- Confirm the change, then review the account list and active sessions again.
- Open WhatsApp, review Linked devices, and remove any device you do not recognize.
Facebook may ask for your password or 2FA code. Enter codes only in the official app or website. Unlinking may remove shared features, so read the confirmation message before proceeding.
If the option is missing
Update the app, try a different browser, or check Accounts Center again. If the connection is gone but unusual activity continues, change the password, sign out unfamiliar sessions, and use official support and recovery flows. Do not install an extension that promises automatic unlinking or send cookies to anyone.
When finished, review 2FA, security emails, and connected apps regularly. You can also read the 2FA security-key guide to understand another authentication method.
